In an eloquent manifestation of the deep historical ties and the evolving strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of India, the Indian Embassy in Rabat hosted a high-level meeting on Monday, December 22, 2025. The meeting brought together His Excellency Ambassador Sanjay Rana and a leadership delegation from the Moroccan-Indian Friendship Association for Art and Culture. This encounter takes place within the context of strengthening cultural diplomacy as a fundamental pillar for rapprochement between the two friendly nations.
This meeting served as the official inaugural session for the Association’s new Executive Office, featuring a delegation of founding members alongside newly elected leaders. Characterized by an atmosphere of warmth and high professionalism, the meeting expressed a shared commitment to transforming cultural commonalities into effective mechanisms for human and civilizational exchange.
Ambassador Sanjay Rana—known for his proficiency in both Arabic and English and his profound interest in Moroccan culture—expressed clear enthusiasm for supporting the Association’s initiatives and future projects. His Excellency emphasized the pivotal role played by civil society institutions in deepening mutual understanding between cultures, stressing the Embassy’s full readiness to establish a sustainable institutional partnership to ensure the success of joint cultural activities.
For her part, Ms. Mamta Suri, Secretary at the Indian Embassy, reviewed potential horizons for cooperation. She confirmed the diplomatic mission’s readiness to provide all forms of necessary logistical and knowledge support to ensure the success of programs aimed at introducing ancient Indian heritage across various Moroccan cities and facilitating cultural exchange.
During the talks, the Moroccan-Indian Friendship Association for Art and Culture presented its strategic vision for the coming period, aspiring to transform the Association into a distinguished platform for cultural and artistic influence. The proposed roadmap includes various pillars, such as organizing cinema weeks, joint fine arts exhibitions, and intellectual seminars exploring the historical and civilizational intersections between Morocco and India. Furthermore, the vision focuses on launching exchange programs for young artists and creators from both countries, contributing to the creation of a new generation of cultural ambassadors capable of building sustainable bridges of communication.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Association’s Executive Office extended an official message of thanks and appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Sanjay Rana and Ms. Mamta Suri, praising the warm reception and hospitality. The Association valued the positive spirit and ambitious vision that characterized the discussions, noting that the Embassy’s support represents a strong incentive to move forward in strengthening popular diplomacy and embodying the values of brotherhood and cooperation.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to immediately begin implementing tangible field programs.
